Mobilising the church Autumn 2011
Dear Supporting Churches We thank God for His love and providence in the work we do, and also for all those churches that support missionaries who preach the gospel around some towns in Peru. Thank you for your constant prayers and financial support that help us to do our work better and better every day. naldo, one of Shalom’s volunteers
e of eynaldo, one of Shalom’s volunteers I am Reynaldo Alarcon and my wife is Sara del Villar. I have three children, Maria Ruth, Esther Noemi and Ana Raquel, ages 18, 8 and 6 respectively. I used to have one boy, Christian who passed away when he was 17 years old. Christian was everything for me, I made lots of plans with him, he was my adoration, but one afternoon something unexpected happened. We were walking together and suddenly he fell down and hit his head on the floor. I suffered a lot for two years. I prayed to God to heal him several times, but he continued to be ill. Eventually I stopped fighting against God and accepted his will, and after that, my son passed away. I started working with the youth group, because I know they have lack of love and need to be listened to and helped because many of them get lost in drugs, alcohol, and other bad habits. The situation is difficult because their families don’t want to accept them anymore, and also some churches don’t provide the help that they need. In every young person I see one of God’s children and feel that I need to help them and love them, show understanding, and provide them tasks to find good opportunities for their lives. In 2010, I went to a Shalom risk reduction workshop. I really liked it and from that moment I started to be more interested in the work that Shalom was doing, so I contacted Shalom to help me to expand the ministerial vision in some churches. Thank God that churches are more involved with the needs of their community, and that they are having a good impact and enabling transformation
in people who need it. I feel happy because Shalom takes care of our brothers and sisters from churches and towns around.”

Prayer Points We thank God: Because although there is a global crisis he has provided us more than we need. Because Shalom’s board allowed us to expand the project to other areas in the region. For the life of our sister Rosa Camargo. She has been working with us implementing capacity building in all the projects in the Andean region. For the worthwhile work our volunteers do every day, God bless them. Their names are: Lourdes Huarhuache (Lawyer), Reynaldo Alarcon (Pastor and Farmer). Please pray for: All the children we are working with. We ask for God wisdom for all of them in order to learn and practice what we are teaching about how to care for God’s creation. For a good management of the self-sufficiency project, especially in the areas of water management, fish-farm and poultry. A new place for the office. The one where we are now doesn’t have enough space and it is in a dangerous area. God’s provision of new people and local and International volunteers that support the work of Shalom.
